This legendary piece of skateboard history has been rescued and dusted off - straight out of the Powell Peralta vaults.
Designed by VCJ, the Vallely Bug graphic was originally printed at half-scale on photocopy paper, then brought to life with magic marker. It was initially turned down by Mike because he REALLY wanted an elephant - so the bug was almost lost to Powell Peralta's dusty archives. When Mike went with the now iconic Elephant design for his debut pro model, Powell Peralta removed his name from the bug graphic, and it was sometimes skated as a non-pro, generic team rider deck. So people in the know were aware of it, but it wasn't associated with Vallely.
But now, inspired by to Sean Cliver’s 'Disposable: A History of Skateboard Art', the bug graphic is finally dropping on the classic Vallely Elephant shape.
